Dr. Filipa Ribeiro, coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience, gave an interview to New in Town (NiT) about the escape room created to promote the new degree program.
"A neuroscientist has gone missing in Lisbon. In this new escape room, you have to find her. ‘The Brain Unlocked’ is a project by the Catholic University in Lisbon. It’s a combination of entertainment and science.
To raise awareness of neuroscience and demystify the concepts associated with it. This is the goal of The Brain Unlocked, an escape room that opened in November in Lisbon. The project was created as part of a new (and unprecedented) Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing at the Catholic University. It aims to demonstrate, in an interactive way, how the human brain works, from the most basic mechanisms to decision-making.
The initiative is led by Filipa Ribeiro, the program’s coordinator, who explains that the idea arose from the need to bring the public closer to a field that remains largely unexplored in higher education in Portugal. If you haven’t visited the space yet, it will make even more sense to do so in the coming days, as International Brain Awareness Week is being celebrated from March 16 to 22."
