Admission Requirements

This admission scheme is planned for Portuguese nationals or nationals of a European Union member state, provided they are not covered by the international student status as defined in Decree-Law No. 36/2014 of March 10, as amended, and republished by Decree-Law No. 62/2018 of August 6.

Applicants must meet all the following conditions:

a) Nationality: Be a Portuguese citizen or a national of a European Union member state;

If the applicant is a national of a third country, they must not fall under international student status, as defined in the current version of Decree-Law No. 36/2014.

b) Age: Be at least 23 years old by 31 December 2025.

c) Academic Qualifications:  Not hold a qualification that grants access to higher education through the typical application regime.


Application Calendar:

1st phase of applications: March 31st to May 22nd, 2026
Written Exam: May 28th, 2026
Individual Interview: May 29th, 2026
Results: July 15th, 2026
Enrollment: June 15th to 19th, 2026

Call for applications 2026/27

Classes will start on September 8th 2026  

Required Documentation for the Application:
  • Valid identification document (passport or identity card);
  • Tax Identification Number (in case of Residence Permit);
  • Passport-sized photograph;
  • Certificate of minimum English proficiency level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), obtained through one of the following exams:
    • Cambridge English Exams – Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE);
    • Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS);
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT);
    • Aptis ESOL Advanced - British Council
    • Language proficiency test conducted by Católica Languages & Translation;
    • Applicants who can prove English is their first language or who have completed secondary education exclusively in English.
  • Documents (diplomas, certificates) that the applicant considers important for their submitted curriculum;
  • Declaration, under oath, that the applicant does not hold any qualification granting access to higher education (Declaration of Honour for applicants aged over 23).

A special written exam, covering the subjects listed below, is mandatory for all applicants:

2. Trigonometry and related functions
3. Analysis of graphs and tables
4. Probability calculation
5. Combinatorial calculation

Biology
1. General organisation of cells
2. Mitosis and meiosis
3. Evolution and agents of evolution
4. Cellular respiration

Physics and Chemistry
1. Structure of matter (atoms, molecules, ions)
2. Chemical equations
3. Classical mechanics
4. Electric field and circuits
5. Gravitational field
6. Energy and heat

Application Fee

The application fee for the BSc in Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience will be €270.00. This amount is not refundable.
