Francesca Mangialasche is a Medical Doctor (MD), and Specialist in Geriatrics from the University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy and has a PhD in Medical Science, the Aging Research Center, Department of Neurobiology Care Sciences and Society (NVS), Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.

Her research activity is based on a scientific collaboration between the Aging Research Center, Karolinska Institutet/Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden; the Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics, University of Perugia, Italy; the National Institute of Health and Welfare, Helsinki, Finland; and the Department of Neurology, University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland.

Her research focuses on clinical and neuropsychological aspects of brain aging and dementia, and on biological studies of brain aging with a specific emphasis on Oxidative/Nitrosative Stress and Antioxidants in Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease in elderly people. She also collaborates in research projects investigating co-occurrence and consequences of multiple chronic diseases (i.e., multimorbidity) in older adults. She is the Scientific Coordinator of WW-FINGERS.
