The book Abrazar la fragilidad. Cinco ensayos de filosofía de la salud has recently been published, edited by Gisela Ponce Lehr and released by Universidad de San Isidro through Poliedro Editorial in 2026, as part of the Cuadernos de Poliedro collection.

The volume brings together a set of interdisciplinary essays that seek to rethink health from a deeply human perspective, situating public health within the horizon of social justice and the common good. In this sense, health is understood not merely as a technical field, but as an ethical and political space at the service of human dignity, inclusion, and the construction of more just societies.
The editorial project was promoted by Enrique Del Percio, Rector of Universidad de San Isidro, who fostered this interdisciplinary dialogue and invited international scholars, including professors from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, to contribute to this reflection. In his essay, Del Percio proposes a rethinking of community health in light of contemporary challenges, including the growing impact of artificial intelligence, highlighting the need for indicators that articulate technology, social responsibility, and human care.

Gisela Ponce Lehr, the editor of the volume, presents community health as a critical threshold, a “umbral,” where models of exclusion and practices of care are confronted, drawing attention to the risk of reducing health to mechanisms of control, rather than fostering an approach centered on dignity and the participation of the most vulnerable.

Among the contributors are researchers from Universidade Católica Portuguesa, including Alex Villas Boas, integrated researcher at CITER, and Sílvia Caldeira, integrated researcher at CIIS and collaborating researcher at CITER, in collaboration with Mary Rute Gomes Esperandio and Fabiano Incerti, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR).

The chapter entitled 'Del cuidado de sí al cuidado de la casa común: la espiritualidad como estilo de vida saludable, integral y transformador' reflects on spirituality as a practice of care that connects personal transformation with ecological and communal responsibility, contributing to an expanded understanding of health as a way of life.

The volume reinforces the commitment of research developed at Universidade Católica Portuguesa to interdisciplinary approaches and to a critical reflection on contemporary challenges related to health, understood as a public practice oriented toward justice, care, and social responsibility.
