Students in the Bachelor’s Program in Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa visited GIMM – the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine.
The visit was led by the program coordinator, Prof. Filipa Ribeiro, Ph.D., and is part of a series of activities designed to expose students to the real-world context of scientific research in neuroscience.
At GIMM, accompanied by researcher Magda Teles, the students had the opportunity to tour various laboratory spaces, interact with researchers, and learn about some of the projects currently being developed in Professor Rui Oliveira’s Integrative Behavioral Biology group. The experience provided direct exposure to the research environment, fostering a better understanding of the academic and professional paths available in this field.
The fact that these visits are taking place as early as the first year of the program reflects the degree program’s commitment to practical, real-world learning, encouraging students to explore different scientific contexts within neuroscience and to establish, from the outset, a connection between theoretical knowledge and practice at institutions of excellence.
