Laura da Silva Araújo, a graduate student in Fundamental Nursing at the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing at the University of São Paulo, made a technical visit in the field of Palliative Care as part of her academic program.

The program began with a welcome session in the Scientific Society Room, led by Prof. Patrícia Pontífice Sousa, followed by a session dedicated to the structure of Palliative Care Services in Portugal, led by Prof. Manuel Luís Capelas.

In the afternoon, there was a visit to the S. João d'Ávila Clinic (Palliative Care Unit and Convalescence Unit), accompanied by Prof. Patrícia Pontífice Sousa.

The main objectives of the visit were to learn about the organization, functioning, and care model of the service, as well as to learn about the practices developed, the referral criteria, and the implementation of palliative care, including the processes for monitoring patients and their families.
