As part of the European project “Vocational Sign Language in Medicine (VSL on Medicine)” (2023-I-TROi-KA220-VET-000160699), the first digital platform for health training in sign language (Portuguese Sign Language, Turkish Sign Language, and Italian Sign Language) is now available. This training is intended for individuals who have received or will receive vocational training in the fields of healthcare, first aid, and search and rescue, who currently work in these fields, and who wish to improve their language skills and communication with deaf sign language users.

This is the first and only health training resource in Portuguese Sign Language and was developed through a consortium of European institutions: the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (NICE_Lab| CIIS-UCP) in Portugal, Izmir Kâtip Çelebi University in Turkey, and the Istituto dei Sordi di Torino in Italy. The Portuguese team was coordinated by researcher Paulo Vaz de Carvalho and researchers and collaborators Mariana Bártolo, Helena Carmo, and Mara Moita.

The VSL on Medicine digital platform is completely free
