On September 26, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) organized the 7th edition of the International Seminar on Palliative Care, a meeting that brought together researchers and specialists dedicated to the topic of palliative care. The event was supported by the Portuguese Association for Palliative Care (APCP) and the International Chair in Bioethics.
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing was represented by researcher Sofia Nunes, who presented the Pal-Cycles project in Pitch: Innovation in Palliative Care. The brief and objective presentation highlighted the proposal to develop and evaluate an integrated, person-centered model for palliative care, with a focus on improving the continuity and quality of the transition of cancer patients from hospital to community, promoting more humane and sustainable care.
The session also included a final discussion, during which several healthcare providers expressed interest in participating in the project, reinforcing the potential impact of Pal-Cycles on the palliative care landscape in Portugal.
This event highlights the commitment of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing to applied research and the promotion of innovative solutions that respond to the real needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
The Pal-Cycles project is a European project developed by a research team in the scientific area of palliative care at the Faculty.
