As part of the celebrations marking 20 years of the Doctorate in Nursing, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (FCSE) is marking a significant milestone: the renaming of the Nursing Merit Scholarship to the Margarida Vieira Scholarship, in honor of Professor Margarida Vieira, founder and driving force behind this distinction.
Created in partnership between the Nursing Schools and the FCSE, this merit scholarship aims to recognize the academic excellence of students in the Master's in Nursing programs and promote the continuity of academic and scientific paths within the Doctorate program.
The Margarida Vieira Scholarship is awarded to the two best students in the Master's in Nursing program, enabling them to attend the Doctorate in Nursing program with a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the first year.
This distinction symbolizes not only the recognition of individual merit, but also the institutional commitment to advanced training, research, and innovation in Nursing—areas in which Professor Margarida Vieira left a deep and lasting mark.
By naming this scholarship after her, FCSE pays tribute to the academic and human legacy of the professor, whose vision and dedication continue to inspire new generations of nurses and researchers.
