The Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (FCSE) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa has launched a new cohort of its Doctoral Program in Nursing, which brings together 34 new students at its Lisbon and Porto campuses.

The welcome ceremony, held simultaneously in Lisbon and Porto, was attended by Prof. Dr. Sílvia Caldeira, Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Nursing; Prof. Dr. Constança Festas,  Deputy Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Nursing;

Prof. Amélia Simões Figueiredo, Ph.D., Director of the School of Nursing (Lisbon), and Prof. Paulo Alves, Ph.D., Associate Director of the FCSE.

The session also included the lecture “Nursing Research: Its Impact and Significance for Citizens’ Health,” delivered by Dr. Fathimath Shifaza of Australian Catholic University.

 The doctoral program in nursing has produced 221 doctoral graduates over the past 21 years, and the launch of this new cohort also underscores the Portuguese Catholic University’s commitment to advanced education, research, and the promotion of scientific knowledge in nursing.
