COMUNICAR 2026 returns for another edition dedicated to Complex Communication Needs (CCN) and Assistive Technologies, bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, students, and everyone committed to promoting more accessible and inclusive communication.

Organised through a collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Anditec – Rehabilitation Technologies, and the Fundação MEO, COMUNICAR has established itself as a forum for knowledge exchange, scientific update, and discussion on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technologies. The 2026 edition will take place at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon and remains closely linked to the Advanced Training Programme in Assistive Technologies for Inclusion (FATAI), offered by the School of Postgraduate and Advanced Education.

Since 2019, FATAI has trained around 200 professionals from a wide range of fields, including mainstream and special education teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, physicians, and other rehabilitation professionals, contributing to increasingly qualified intervention for people with complex communication needs.

Throughout COMUNICAR 2026, participants will explore topics related to Complex Communication Needs and the role of Assistive Technologies in promoting communication, participation, autonomy, and inclusion through presentations of projects, experiences, and best practices delivered by leading national experts.
