A Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde e Enfermagem organiza o Workshop "Cognitive Biases in Psychological Disorders: From Theory to Practice in Task Design and Analysis" no próximo dia 21 de novembro às 14h às 17h no Campus de Lisboa da UCP, no âmbito do Mestrado em Neuropsicologia.

Entrada Livre | Formulário de Inscrição

This interactive workshop offers an introduction to the study of cognitive biases in psychological disorders, combining theoretical foundations with practical experience in experimental task design and data analysis.

Participants will first gain a conceptual understanding of key cognitive bias models and their relevance to psychopathology. The session will then move to hands-on practice, where participants will try out different tasks and build an experimental image rating task using PsychoPy, a widely used open-source platform for behavioral research.

Invited Lectured: Einav Gozansky is a PhD student in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Haifa, Israel (since 2021), under the supervision of Prof. Hadas Okon-Singer and Prof. Irit Weissman-Fogel. Her research integrates cognitive psychology, pain physiology, and data science to examine the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying pain perception and modulation. Her doctoral work investigates the efficacy of cognitive training interventions for pain relief using a multidimensional approach that combines behavioral paradigms, physiological measurements, and advanced quantitative sensory testing (QST). She has recently been awarded the Humboldt Research Fellowship for her upcoming postdoctoral studies at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, where she will explore multisensory integration processes in pain populations.

Workshop structure:

  • Theoretical background lecture (45 min) – Overview of cognitive biases, assessment methods, and their implications for psychological research.
  • Exploring experimental paradigms (20 min) – Demonstration and discussion of various tasks used to measure cognitive biases.
  • Break (10 min)
  • Practical session: Experimental programming in PsychoPy
    • Introduction to experimental programming and PsychoPy (45 min)
    • Guided exercise: Building a picture-rating task (45 min)
  • Optional extension: Data cleaning and basic analysis of participants’ own task data (15–30 min, depending on time and interest).

Workshop Preparation

To ensure active participation in the hands-on components of the workshop, participants are asked to bring their own laptops and install the following software before the session:

Required installations:

1. Python (if not already installed)

Download from: Python 3.14.0 – Python.org
