Neuroscience of Perception and Action

6 ECTS / Semester / Inglês

This UC integrates a systemic view of behavior and cognition through understanding how perceptual stimuli are detected and processed and how the brain translates information into action.

Theoretical, expository classes will be combined with theoretical-practical classes where scientific articles will be analyzed with practical examples (some of them presented by invited scientists), and an experimental project will be carried out (e.g., based on the analysis of microscope images referring to samples of neural tissue, available in online repositories).

At the end of the semester, students should be familiar with the syllabus and reading literature, and must have developed the ability to design experiments, to collect, manage and analyze data, to present and discuss their results, and to write a report.
