Professor Cândida Ferrito, Ph.D., a faculty member at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing and the School of Nursing (Lisbon), was appointed to serve on the Health Literacy Commission of the Portuguese Nurses’ Association (OE).

This Commission is coordinated by the Vice President of the OE and the Secretary of the OE’s Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Lurdes Martins, a faculty member at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing and the School of Nursing (Lisbon).

Created as part of the OE’s Health Literacy Project, this Commission aims to help combat misinformation in health and improve the population’s health literacy by producing and disseminating scientifically grounded, accurate, and accessible content.

Among the planned initiatives is the production of fact sheets on everyday health topics, written in accessible language without compromising scientific rigor.

We welcome this participation, which represents an opportunity to strengthen the connection between academia, the profession, and society.
