The 3rd Summer Academy on Spirituality and Health, held on June 23–24, 2025 at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon, brought together an international and interdisciplinary community of scholars, practitioners, and students to explore the vital connection between spirituality and health.
Organized by CADOS – Católica Doctoral School, in collaboration with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) and the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing, the event featured two days of rich dialogue, case studies, and methodological reflections. Participants engaged with topics ranging from spiritual care in clinical settings to the ethical and cultural dimensions of holistic health.
A key highlight of this year’s edition was the official launch of REDES – Rede de Espiritualidade e Saúde, a new network dedicated to fostering collaboration, research, and innovation in the field of spirituality and health across Portuguese-speaking countries. REDES aims to connect professionals and institutions committed to integrating spiritual dimensions into healthcare education, policy, and practice.
“The launch of REDES marks a significant step forward in building a shared space for reflection and action in this field,” said the organizers. “It reflects our commitment to promoting integral human development through interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue.”
This Summer Academy continues to grow as a platform for academic exchange and professional development, reinforcing UCP’s role as a leader in advancing holistic approaches to health and well-being.
